A yatra to Shirgul Mahadev on Churdhaar peak in Himachal Pradesh — reached 2,900m before the weather shifted in two minutes from light snowfall to heavy hail.
What I was wearing wasn't enough for what came next. I had no extra clothes, no gloves. The temperature and wind made the call for us. Seven kilometres from the peak, between Doosri and Teesri, the right move was to turn around and come back down.
Far from civilization, watching the snow come down thick over the mountains, you see something rare. Some of what we witnessed up there, no camera could capture.
